Amazon-Links on this page are affiliate links. By buying stuff using those links you support our game development business without paying extra! You can however get some parts cheaper in china but remember about import laws and taxes as well as delivery time. The list is provided as a reference. No obligation or warranty for it to be correct, complete or even working. Use it at your own risk.
Basic Parts
- PC with all required cables
- TFT screen (you need to be able to remove the foot/base - use a cheap 23 or 24 inch model - check that there are no disturbing messages appearing on a regular base and make sure it switches on automatically after a power outage)
- Energy spreading adapters for line power (5 ports - we used this fancy master-slave unit)
- Arcade controller set (8-way-stick; 8+2 Buttons per player - [8 buttons + start + coin]) like this kit Hint: Not all kits are illuminated!
- Sound system - We use this one
- Two silent, big, non-illuminated computer fans without integrated temperature control (they ma be RPM-contorlled but should not have an own sensor and logic)
- All the wood parts (see the repository files)
- A few cable connectors like these
- Cables, cables, cables... (depends on the hardware you want to install into the machine - make a plan first!) For example:
- Female jumper cable
- Plain cable (suitable for various connections)
- mains cable not made for, but optimally usable for bringing your 5v nad 12v supply from the ATX supply to other areas in the machine. Just do not confuse the cables!
Optional base parts
- Small Keyboard/Mouse combo like this one
- Network-Switch (if using the LED-Matrix, you need to connect the Pi to the PC and you will still want to have the PC connected to your network)
- If using Arduino Nanos, these boards can help wiring and keep the nanos exchangable without fiddling.
- Same probably goes for the NodeMCU ESP (Untested!)
- Additional ATX Power supply for optional systems below
OPTIONAL: LED Matrix Top-Front-Panel
- Raspberry Pi 2B or 3 (preferred)
- 32x128 pixels of HUB75 LED-Matrices. Note there are diferent resolutions, sizes, densities, and led configurations. We suggest to buy two 32*64 boards however we cannot recommend any fully.
OPTIONAL: Button LED Controller
- NodeMCU powered by ESP32 e.g. this one
- "cable shoes" - You use them to attach cables to the LED-connectors. Depends on your button set.
OPTIONAL: LED Light Effects
- Arduino Nano (or a clone like this one)
- 2x 5 segments of a ws2811 30led/m strip like that one for the speakers (diagonal top panel)
- 1x 30 leds (1/2 meter) ws2812b 60led/m strip like this one for the down-light (under the control board)
OPTIONAL: Coin Processing Unit + Logic Controller with optional PowerOn-Feature*
- Arduino Nano (or a clone like this one)
- With PowerOn-Feature: 3 relais for 5v operation (Or a triple/quad board like this one - We had some issues with such a board and had to solder. Try it and report back if it worked :))
- Without PowerOn-Feature: Single relais for 5v operation
- The CPU Coin Selector (we got this one) *) The logic controller is currently only used for coin logic. Might be extended in the future! The trigger relais is for safety reasons. You could probably omit it by connecting the nano directly to the joystick board.
