Install hyperion using the provided script:
curl -k -L --output install_hyperion.sh --get https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hyperion-project/hyperion/master/bin/install_hyperion.sh
chmod +x install_hyperion.sh
sudo sh ./install_hyperion.sh
This will take afew minutes. No need to download HperCon as suggested by the script.
After setup was successful, copy our hyperion.config.json to /et/hyperion/hyperion.config.json
Edit the file and replace the output path with the tty-path for your ambient light controller. (Hint: Use udev rules to ensure ongoing functinality)
Example rule: SUBSYSTEM=="tty", ATTRS{idVendor}=="1a86", ATTRS{idProduct}=="7523", ATTRS{devpath}=="1.3", SYMLINK+="ttyArcadeLEDs"
Another hint: some cheak Arduino clones hav all the same serial numbers. The solution for identifying this is that you can use devpath instead of the serial to identify it.
Enable the integrated x11 frame grabber by creating a file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99-arcade-ambient with the following content: If you just create this file it could look like this:
#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/hyperion-x11 --framerate 25 &
Don'T forget to mark it executable with sudo chmod 755 /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99-arcade-ambient
reboot the computer to see if everything is working as expected.
